Food for Thought

I guess this is how my blog is starting! :)

Well, dear reader, thank you for stopping by!

This morning, I made breakfast for my kids, and it was such a beautiful experience. That may sound strange, but when I say I loved it, I was almost in tears. You see, it's been a while since I've had the opportunity to cook breakfast and serve it to them. Don't worry; they eat breakfast every day, but because they're older, they make it themselves now. If you had told me that this moment would happen ten years ago, I would have laughed uncontrollably!

I was a stay-at-home mom for 16.5 years, and during that time, I often felt utterly useless, despite caring for my family every day. We will dive deeper into this in another blog post, but for now, just know that I felt guilty about being a stay-at-home mom. I remember not enjoying making breakfast or keeping house. And if we're being honest, it's rare to find joy in the seemingly mundane tasks of daily life. I used to ask God, "When will my life begin?" or "When will I move beyond cooking and cleaning?"

If only I had known that seasons truly change! If only I had understood that time flies and that the days may be long, but the years are short. Looking back, I can see how foolish I was. But we don't know what we don't know until we know!

Now that I work outside the home, everything feels fast-paced and rushed, and the days and weeks seem to fly by in a blur. Thankfully, my kids come to work with me! This isn't a "woe is me" post; I am grateful for this season of my life. I simply want to encourage other stay-at-home moms to enjoy this time with your kids, take the slow route, care for yourself both spiritually and physically, and trust God through it all. Seasons change, but God remains the same.

With that said, being a mom is wonderful. I love my kiddos, and I am so thankful that God has entrusted them to me. I pray for His guidance as I strive to parent them well. Praise the Lord for all seasons because He is faithful!

Until next post, be encouraged!
